Description
To manage and coordinate international logistics operations for fresh berries, ensuring on-time delivery, full documentary compliance, accurate tracking, and effective cost control across UK and European markets. This role provides critical operational support to the Supply Chain Manager, helping ensure products arrive in optimal condition while maintaining a stable, visible, and customer-focused supply chain. The Supply Chain Coordinator plays an essential role in supporting efficiency, reliability, and compliance across all logistics activities.
1. International Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate imports of fresh berries from South Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
- Manage day-to-day communication with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers in both the UK and EU.
- Oversee the full container journey: booking, loading, transit, port arrival, customs clearance, and final delivery to customer sites or warehouses.
2. Documentation Management
- Review, validate, and organize all logistics and commercial documentation (Bills of Lading, CMRs, invoices, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, packing lists, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards in the UK and EU.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in ERP systems and internal tracking tools.
3. Incident & Claims Handling
- Monitor shipment status proactively and identify potential risks during transit.
- Manage logistics incidents such as delays, temperature deviations, port issues, or missed connections.
- Support the Supply Chain Manager in handling claims by gathering documentation, temperature reports, and evidence.
4. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency
- Register, verify, and track logistical costs including freight charges, port fees, storage, customs, and inland transportation.
- Support rate comparisons and cost-optimization initiatives.
- Verify and pre-approve logistics invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contracted services.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with planning, procurement, quality assurance, and commercial teams to align shipment schedules with business needs.
- Provide timely updates to internal stakeholders regarding ETAs, delivery status, and logistics performance.
- Support internal reporting on stock movements, arrivals, and logistics KPIs.
Requirements
1. Experience
- Previous experience in international logistics, supply chain, or international trade (fresh produce or perishable goods preferred).
- Understanding of maritime transport, import procedures, and customs clearance (UK + EU).
- Experience working with freight forwarders and export/import documentation.
2. Technical Skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and supply chain tracking tools.
- Strong documentation management and administrative accuracy.
3. Core Competencies
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with external partners (forwarders, warehouses, customs brokers) and internal teams.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to act quickly during logistics disruptions.
- Proactive, reliable, and service-oriented approach.
- Professional level of English (additional languages are a plus).
Salary Description
€30,000 – €33,000
