About Duke Raleigh Hospital, A Campus of Duke University Hospital
Pursue your passion for caring with the Duke Raleigh Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. With 204-beds, it is the third largest of the four Duke Health hospitals and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.
Location: Duke Raleigh Hospital, 3400 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (Weekends when necessary)
Perform duties related to computerized order entry, distribution of all supplies, linens, and equipment, as well as the shipping and receiving of hospital merchandise. Maintain effective inventory management processes to meet supply needs with prompt delivery, assure the accuracy of issued items, and ensure the proper working order and availability of equipment.
Have responsibilities in at least one of the following areas to ensure optimal inventory management for in-scope facilities. In accordance with established policies and procedures, Level 1 staff are required to:
Distribute and restock supplies and/or linen to end users.
Use appropriate Supply Chain technologies (Pyxis and SAP) to document the movement of supplies.
Perform cycle counts on a regular basis to ensure accurate stock levels in all areas.
Check expiration dates on supplies regularly; document and discard expired products.
Accept and sign for deliveries from distributors as necessary.
Inspect shipments, enter Goods Receipts into SAP, and file packing slips.
Report identified shipment discrepancies to Supply Chain onsite management.
Prepare and ship out vendor returns, and manage stock rotation in all areas.
Move and stock supplies to appropriate shelving locations once receiving is complete.
Transport shipments from the loading dock to the stockroom and deliver packages to appropriate purchasers.
Deliver non-supply items (e.g., medical gas, linen) in a timely manner as specified.
Participate in and perform mid-year and year-end inventory counts.
Ensure all STAT orders are completed according to specified service level agreements.
Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with end customers to address linen and/or supply questions.
Ensure all Supply Chain work areas, including all supply storage areas throughout the facility, are clean and organized.
Proactively provide recommendations on operational efficiency improvements to Supply Chain management.
In addition to the Level 1 responsibilities listed above, Level 2 staff are expected to spend at least 50% of their time performing a multitude of the following functions. In accordance with established policies and procedures, Level 2 staff are required to:
Act as a mentor/preceptor to all Level 1 Supply Chain Associates and serve as a back-up Team Lead if necessary.
Demonstrate excellent customer service in all areas when interacting with customers, including nursing floors and OR environments (physicians, surgery techs/nurses, Cath Lab techs/nurses, or other specialty area techs/nurses) to address supply-related questions.
Deliver, manage, and coordinate supplies and other products for off-site clinics and/or facilities as needed.
Manage inventory; assist in preparations and perform annual inventory counts.
Oversee consignment inventory and processes, and potentially oversee inventory management for procedural areas.
Proactively collaborate with other Supply Chain stakeholders to adjust par levels and address slow-moving items based on supply usage.
Troubleshoot supply shortage issues and clearly articulate known impacts.
Effectively utilize the ERP system to pull reports, find products, use handheld technologies for delivery and PAR replenishment, and run reports in SAP to close out daily transactions.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the TIMS module, including receiving and documenting.
Pull EPIC reports for use as a tool, or pull reports from Pyxis and analyze data to provide appropriate recommendations.
Participate in PERT, OR EDIT, and VAT discussions as needed (as assigned).
Manage vendors by accessing and utilizing Vendormate (as assigned).
Work with customers to help reconcile invoices as needed.
Complete all assigned tasks with minimal supervision from the Team Lead and Manager.
Demonstrate a general ability and willingness to perform additional job functions (within reason) necessary to ensure safe patient care practices, as directed by Supply Chain management.
Cross-train and perform other Supply Chain-related responsibilities when needed.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others to achieve organizational and team goals.
Respond to customers' needs in a professional manner.
Work effectively in a computerized environment.
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The exertional requirements to push/pull unloaded and loaded supply carts require up to 100 pounds of exertional force daily. Reaching, lifting, stooping, and bending are frequent in daily duties.

In addition to the skills listed for Level 1, candidates must have:
Experience using an ERP system.
Advanced competency in inventory management.
Must have the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Requires pushing/pulling loaded supply carts with up to 100 pounds of exertional force daily; frequent reaching, lifting, stooping, and bending).
Ability to strive to improve processes, contribute new ideas, and problem-solve.
Work cooperatively with others and possess a sense of urgency and a proactive customer service philosophy.
In addition to Level 1 characteristics, must have experience using an ERP system and competency in inventory management.
HS Diploma/G.E.D. required.
Some college-level coursework preferred, but not required.
Level 1: At least 1 year of work experience, including experience in one of the following areas: distribution, warehousing, shipping, receiving, logistics, material handling, customer service, inventory control, or another comparable service line. Strongly prefer experience in a fast-paced, customer service environment.
Level 2: 2 years of work experience, to include experience in at least one of the following disciplines: distribution, warehousing, shipping, receiving, logistics, material handling, customer service, inventory control, or another comparable service line.
Valid Driver's License may be required.
