Reporting to the Amentum Full-Time Supply Supervisor, thecontract Assistant Supply Supervisoris responsible forsupporting the efficient and effective management of supplylogisticsoperationsat McMurdo StationAs second in charge of the summer Supply Department at McMurdo Station, this role will interact with station management, the National Science Foundation,militaryand other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner. The Supply Assistant Supervisor is accountable for the planning, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates and making recommendations concerning performance appraisal and professional development.This roleassiststhefulltimeSupply Supervisor in coordinating the movement and storage of goods,maintainingaccurateinventory records, and ensuringtimelydelivery of supplies to various departments within the organization.Implements standard operating procedures andassistsin the review and revision of operatingprocedures.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supply Supervisor in overseeing day-to-day supplylogisticsoperations andprovidinga broad range of coordinationfor the department, including staff scheduling, datamanagementand resource tracking.

  • Collaborate with internal Supply teams to gather andmaintainreporting data and documentation for weekly reports to the Supply Supervisor, Station Management and Logistics DepartmentManagement

  • Coordinate andmonitorthe receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Assistsin the management and tracking oflabor allocations for all Supply department personnel.

  • Aids Supervisor in ensuring all departmental documentation and standard operations procedures (SOP’s) are effectively trained to,trackedand documented.

  • Assistin conducting regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with database records.

  • Assistancein analyzing supply chain data toidentifytrends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Responsible for implementing,maintaining,schedulingand presenting a consistent safe workplace program that is cascaded to all Supply work centers.

  • Aids with the maintenanceand tracking ofall safety records and training requirements for personnel in ATTACK training tracker.

  • Helpmaintainsemergency documentation, vessel operations organization charts, and contact lists

  • Assists, trains and works with vessel offload operationsand procedure planning, setup, take down and reporting for the distribution of materials. May be assigned any role and work any shift in a 24-hour period during vessel offload or during other special operations while deployed.

  • Works with the Supply Supervisor to plan and organize meetings, arrangeactivitiesand events asessentialin theSupplydepartmentas well as organizes and conducts daily/weekly safety meetings andmaintainsattendance and subject matter documentation.

  • Assists Supply Supervisorwith the coordination ofincoming staff, includingdocumentation packets,training schedules andmeet andgreetsupon arrival.

  • Maintains a proactive approach to problem solving and informational gathering,identifiesand recommends needed changes to Supply department.

  • Interacts with others in a professional manner, whether by telephone, e-mail, or in-person.Operates personal tablets/computer andutilizessoftware programs, spreadsheets, databases, and perform report running, records search, data input, and data corrections.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supply department management; outdoor work will berequiredin varying temperatures.

RequiredEducation, Experience, Certificates and Licenses

  • BA/BS Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or three years of equivalent experience working in any of the following fields: Inventory materials management, warehousing, cargo/transportation, supply chain or logistics or a minimum of two seasonsexperience working in the Transportation and Logistics (T&L) department or related areas in Antarctica.

  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Working knowledge of materials movement,purchasing, inventory, and hazardous materials

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel,PowerPointand Outlook.

  • IBM Maximo experience.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint.

  • Strong ability toclearly and efficiently communicatetofacilitateand disseminate information.

  • Previousdeployment to Antarcticaor experience with remote site Logistics and operations is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with government supply systems and inventory accounting requirements is strongly preferred.

Physical and/or Other Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods

  • Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica

  • Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer

  • Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF

  • Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.

  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.

  • Mustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives

  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States

  • No clearancerequirementbut the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access. (includes NACI / T1, MRPT, CAC): Must be able to obtain andmaintainfacility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship isrequiredfor facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
