Job Description

The Supplier Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that transformers and related manufacturing processes comply with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ANSI, ISO). This role supports products, process, and system documentation throughout the manufacturing lifecycle—With emphasis on raw material requirements, Inspection, rejections, suppler notifications and corrective action requests to ensure consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Essential functions & Key Responsibilities

· Perform in-process and final audits on oil-filled power and distribution transformers.

· Verify compliance with engineering drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

  • Review and disposition nonconforming materials, components, and finished products.
  • Lead containment activities for quality-related production issues
  • Assist in the data collection of non-conforming products and work closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Be part of the internal audit team and support external audits performed by customers, registrars, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in the quality management system improvement initiatives as necessary.
  • Assist in the implementation of approved supplier list, conducting, reviewing supplier audits and completion of corrective actions.

· Maintain department KPI’s up to date and ready for distribution.

· Constantly review non-conforming quality trends and raise the flag to management.

  1. Qualifications
  • 5 years’ experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, and related technical discipline. Experience with supplier interface is strongly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing quality principles.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality tools including FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and CAPA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with product adherence to ISO, ASME, ASTM, and IEEE standards, procedures, and regulations through appropriate quality tests.
  • Previous oversight of the maintenance of quality documentation, such as SOPs, Quality Log, Quality Alerts, and Customer Service documents.
  • Preferred Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA); Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt; ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Understanding of transformer manufacturing processes and/or electrical equipment assembly is a plus.

· Verify compliance with environmental and oil-handling procedures.

· Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.

· Proficiency in MS Office and quality documentation tools.

· Experience in quality auditing within a manufacturing environment.

· Familiarity with oil-filled transformer construction and testing (desired).

· Environment/Physical Requirements

· The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Office (25%), manufacturing environment (50%), domestic travel (25%).

· Regular interaction with production areas

· Constant presence on the production floor.

· Ability to lift moderate weights and climb ladders when required.

· Exposure to industrial environment including noise and oil handling areas.

· Maintain department KPI’s up to date and ready for distribution.
