We are looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer.


Your Job

You will own supplier and subcontractor quality for our Malaysia site, driving continuous improvement in supplier performance, managing supplier-related customer complaints, and acting as the primary technical contact for incoming material quality issues. You will investigate and communicate supplier-related nonconformances, lead corrective actions with vendors and subcontractors, and support dispositions and follow-up to ensure timely closure.


Our Team

This role sits within Consumer & Commercial Solution — QA and reports to the Quality Manager in Malaysia. You will work closely with all levels in the plant, other Molex entities, purchasing, and external contacts including subcontractors and suppliers to ensure product quality and supplier performance meet customer and internal requirements.


What You Will Do

  • Incoming engineer responsibilities
    • Take ownership of supplier and subcontractor quality issues by providing timely feedback to suppliers/subcontractors and driving corrective actions.
    • Issue F‑type QNs (quality notifications) to suppliers when nonconformances are identified.
    • Prepare QDRs (quality defect reports) that include reject information for suppliers.
    • Follow up on 8D reports and ensure closure from vendors and subcontractors.
    • Collaborate closely with Purchasing to determine part dispositions, including return to vendor, scrap, or sorting.
    • Monitor supplier performance using a quality scorecard and drive supplier/subcontractor improvement initiatives on a quarterly basis based on scorecard results.
  • Supplier quality engineer / audit responsibilities
    • Perform supplier audits, including arranging annual supplier and subcontractor audits.
    • Complete self‑assessment checklists with suppliers and subcontractors and follow up on audit findings until closure.
  • Customer quality engineer responsibilities
    • Analyze product failures to define corrective and preventive actions in response to customer complaints.
    • Communicate with customers in a timely manner regarding data summaries, status updates, and corrective action reports.
    • Coordinate with Quality personnel and cross‑functional teams to discuss and resolve product quality issues raised by customers.
    • Participate in product quality planning and control processes driven by customer specifications and requirements resulting from quality issues.
    • Inform the quality management team of customer feedback and expectations regarding product quality.
    • Prepare and update required quality reports and procedures to meet customer expectations and internal requirements.
    • Train and guide the quality team in problem‑solving methodologies to resolve customer quality issues.
    • Prepare 8D reports for customers, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, and ensure corrective actions documented in 8D reports are implemented and closed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer.
  • Strong ability to perform engineering analyses and drive to root cause for processing problems; familiar with FMEA and control plan concepts.
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools and SPC, plus basic analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills for guiding less experienced engineers, and basic computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets); basic auditing skills.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in related fields/areas.
  • Familiarity with database development, SPC software, and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
