The role

As Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be acting as a key interface between Norton’s suppliers and manufacturing operation, ensuring supplier quality issues are managed effectively, supplier performance is monitored, and corrective actions are progressed to minimise disruption to production.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on supplier quality support, working closely with Production Quality Engineers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day supplier quality issues and non-conformances.

  • Support containment activities relating to supplier quality issues.

  • Coordinate supplier corrective actions, including 8D investigations.

  • Track supplier corrective actions through to effective closure.

  • Monitor supplier quality performance and key quality KPIs.

  • Support supplier development and improvement activities.

  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of quality issues.

  • Work closely with Production Quality Engineers (PQEs) to resolve supplier-related quality issues.

  • Escalate significant or recurring supplier quality concerns where appropriate.

  • Support concession and deviation reviews.

  • Assist with the resolution of production issues involving purchased components and materials.

  • Provide timely quality support to manufacturing to minimise disruption to production.

  • Monitor supplier PPM, defect trends and overall supplier quality performance.

  • Produce supplier quality reports and performance updates.

  • Support supplier performance reviews.

  • Identify and follow up overdue supplier corrective actions.

  • Highlight recurring or significant supplier performance issues to relevant stakeholders.

  • Support APQP activities where required.

  • Assist with PPAP documentation and submission reviews.

  • Support the implementation of engineering changes affecting suppliers

  • Work with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are understood and effectively implemented

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier quality records

  • Ensure supplier quality documentation is appropriately controlled

  • Support internal and external audit preparation

  • Assist with quality KPI reporting and performance monitoring

  • Ensure relevant quality processes and documentation are followed

  • Identify recurring supplier quality issues and trends

  • Support root cause investigations and problem-solving activities

  • Recommend improvements to supplier quality processes and controls

  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions

  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving supplier quality, reducing defects and protecting production

Personal Specification

  • Previous experience in a Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Quality or similar Quality Engineering role

  • Experience working directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues

  • Good understanding of quality problem-solving techniques, including 8D, root cause analysis and corrective action

  • Experience of supplier performance monitoring and quality KPIs, including PPM and defect trends

  • Working knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes

  • Experience supporting manufacturing and production quality teams

  • Ability to interpret technical and quality documentation

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple supplier issues and actions simultaneously

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify and escalate issues effectively

  • Experience within an automotive, manufacturing, engineering or similar production environment would be advantageous
