Job Purpose

Production Support Departmentt: Engineer person in charge supports problem investigation/analysis/ report for Quality issues through blueprint reading, part measurement, Catia/3D. Support and lead support management (supplier contact, confirmation of op stds, etc) for all non-confirming production parts, triggering point compliance and collaborative support of problem summaries, Minimize or eliminate impact to Global Direct Pass/Downtime and support/coordination of large repair projects. Develop technical skillset through frequent interactions and mentorship. Support activities that affect cost and help reduce downtime and units to repair. Ensure sorting activity properly addresses safety and environmental hazards on operation standards. Support new model activity as assigned and other department and division quality improvement activity.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure supplier parts meet the drawing and specifications to assure part compliance. Evaluate and understand part Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Process Quality Control Table (PQCT), Operations Standards, and Manufacturing Quality Standard (MQS).
  • Approve part/process changes for design changes and non-design changes (collaboration between Supplier Assurance and Production Support Departments).
  • Authority to remove parts from completed body unit for investigation.
  • Support in-depth analysis related to the production process to minimize customer concerns.
  • Support and manage complete problem-solving analysis, supplier root cause analysis, development of countermeasures and implementation, and investigations on all Manpower quality issues.
  • Support North American Reporting System report correlation to ensure report and cost accuracy.
  • Support reviewing the previous shifts reports and set direction for finalizing gap in containment or technical analysis.
  • Perform data analysis, prioritize top impact issues and support supplier characteristic improvement activities.
  • Work with sorting contractors and supplier to provide direction concerning quality issues.
  • Provide direction to sort teams to ensure projects are meeting target milestones.
  • Support the development and confirmation of sort operation standards.
  • Daily confirmation of sort effectiveness of current quality concerns to minimize impact to production (Items in blue specific to Product Support Department).
  • Manage and support communication with suppliers and other departments in regard to countermeasures.
  • Build technical, Honda Way, and Department knowledge.
  • Effectively generate interest in new ideas within the team.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering equivalent relevant experience

Average Experience: 0-6 years’ experience depending upon education

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Measurement Systems, Catia/3D or CAD proficient
  • Quality Assurance experience
  • MS Office proficient
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Strong problem solving, negotitiation, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to balance workload and set priorities
  • Ability to present to varying audiences
  • Work in a team environment

Working Conditions

  • On-site in plant, open office environment, waling sorting, limited travel
  • Average overtime hours is 3-5 hours per week
