Job Description

Supplier Quality Development Leader - Configured Systems (SQDL) will ensure a strong and efficient interface between Supplier Quality and Strategic Sourcing, Engineering and Quality Value Streams functions to ensure adequate and reliable development and qualification of processes and products at suppliers.
This global role will contribute to the strategy of Strategic Sourcing by ensuring that quality risks, qualification gaps and resources are known and discussed as early as possible, allowing the business to make data driven, risk aware decisions.
This role will report to the Global Configured Systems SQ Leader, supporting him/her in developing and implementing a single global strategic plan to address top systemic supplier issues in the MSD/BOP commodity and execute this strategy in partnership with internal and external customers.
SQDL will serve as a functional (dotted line) leader of the community of Technical Leaders and other SQ specialists for Configured Systems commodities procured at external suppliers. SQDL will be promoting safety, compliance, quality, and lean mindset in the Configured Systems SQ Team, setting excellence standards, taking care of technical induction of newcomers and development of junior SQEs, and assuring adequate SQ representation and inputs in Engineering and Strategic Sourcing leadership team forums
SQDL will make sure that the standard work necessary for effective qualification of suppliers and other supplier development activities are defined, maintained, and harmonized across regions and Configured Systems sub-commodities.
Finally, this role will assure and coordinate timely and effective technical and quality methodology support to SQ Engineers executing Product Qualifications, critical process audits, RCAs/RCIs and Taskforces.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, deploy, and communicate the network of SQ contact points for each Configured Systems sub-commodity.
  • Set up data-driven operating rhythm to review, challenge, and support qualification needs, gaps, roadblocks, and planning.
  • Actively participate in Strategic Sourcing commodity reviews. Ensure Quality risks, qualification needs, budget constraints & expertise gaps are known and addressed for new product qualifications and/or new suppliers’ introduction.
  • Align with Engineering Leaders in identifying and leading supplier development programs to continuously improve supplier performance and improve supplier base.
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing Global Commodity Leaders to identify and assess new supplier opportunities.
  • Support Quality Value Streams initiatives and proactively identify and execute process simplification ideas to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Support Global Configured Systems SQ Leader to develop and drive qualification standard (to include improved NPI performance) to improve supplier performance, leveraging the development of a supplier read across program within supply base.
  • Support Global Configured Systems SQ Leader and Regional SQ Managers in planning of a proactive global audit program to reduce & eliminate product and process risk & customer and factory escapes.
  • Support Global Configured Systems SQ Leader and Regional SQ Managers to develop the team capability: manage team expertise pool, identify gaps, define training programs.
  • Train and deploy SQE resources to execute SDR and NCR resolution, coach critical RCAs/RCIs, support qualification and other SQ development activities.
  • Ensure that the residual risks after First Part Qualifications are completed are mitigated by Supplier Quality Engineers in the project execution phase by setting up the adequate manufacturing surveillance level.
  • Drive activities to create the second-level work instructions and guidelines facilitating the implementation of global product qualification process.
  • Ensure that for all key processes and products Standard Product Qualification Requirements are defined and effectively deployed.
  • Establish and maintain the Product Qualification trackers and organize the regular status review and reports to the leadership.
  • Audit product qualification records in the Supplier Management tool and escalate if they are not properly maintained and compliant to the sourcing processes.
  • Ensure best practices and lessons learned are captured and shared across different commodities, regions, and suppliers.
  • Be active member of Sourcing lean, deflation and cost out initiatives.
  • Help the team identified correct Engineering contact points and ensure resources are pulled in as needed to support qualification and development activities.
  • Coach critical Root Cause Analysis when issues arise, drive preventative actions that ensure issues do not reoccur.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Design or Quality Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Work experience in quality, operations/supply chain or project management
  • Must be able to travel 25%
  • Fluent in English language

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in HRSG, MSD and/or BoP product scope or similar, with proficiency to understand technical drawings, specifications, and standards Experience working within complex, multi-site, multi-region organizations

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $125,000.00 and $208,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
