About the Role

As a Supplier Quality Development Engineer, you will drive supplier quality activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from sourcing and prototype phases through PPAP/FAI approval and production launch. You will work closely with suppliers, engineering, quality, and purchasing teams to ensure components meet quality, timing, and customer requirements while supporting a successful industrialization process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality activities during development and launch phases, ensuring compliance with APQP, PPAP/FAI, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Conduct supplier audits, assess risks, and drive corrective action plans to closure.
  • Monitor supplier quality deliverables, project milestones, certifications, and deviations.
  • Manage supplier changes and ensure proper validation before implementation.
  • Support component reviews and ensure suppliers understand technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate prototype and production readiness activities, including inspections, control plans, and process validations.
  • Review, approve, and maintain PPAP/FAI documentation and sample submissions.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to mitigate risks and ensure smooth handover to serial production.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement through scorecards, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support plants with supplier-related quality issues during launch and early production phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar role within the automotive industry or a Tier 1 supplier.
  • Understanding of APQP, PPAP and/or FAI methodologies
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of quality tools, measurement systems analysis (MSA), statistical methods, and root cause problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience with supplier audits, quality planning, and production process validation is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent English and willingness to travel to supplier locations when required.
