We’re looking for a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer (SQDE) to play a key role in developing supplier capability, improving performance, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and sustainability across our Global supply base.

Working closely with Procurement, Category Management, Engineering, and Quality teams, you’ll assess and onboard suppliers, support new product introductions, lead supplier audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also contribute to our Nuclear Quality Assurance programme, ensuring suppliers meet stringent industry requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Evaluate, audit, and onboard new suppliers to support sourcing and procurement strategies.
  • Conduct supplier audits and periodic re-evaluations, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Support new product introductions through DFM reviews, process development, and PPAP/sample approval activities.
  • Develop supplier improvement plans, driving corrective actions and long-term capability enhancement.
  • Lead supplier problem-solving activities using structured methodologies, including 8D.
  • Support the resolution of supplier non-conformances and quality concerns.
  • Perform Commercial Grade Surveys and Commercial Grade Item Dedication activities in support of our Nuclear Quality Assurance programme.
  • Maintain accurate records, performance metrics, and stakeholder reporting.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical engineering or a related discipline;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in quality function in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of planning and delivery of internal or supplier audits.
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001 requirements for control of documents, internal audits, control of product and processes (manufacturing), inspection, control of non-conforming product and measuring devices.
  • Experience of at least one of the key manufacturing and inspection processes employed throughout Rotork’s supply chain i.e. casting, machining, electronics manufacturing, injection moulding.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture principles for both production tooling and finished components.
  • Competence with computerized analytical tools including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel.
  • Competence in written and spoken communication in English.

Desirable:

  • ISO/IEC 80079-34 - Requirements for products used in explosive atmospheres Quality Management System
  • Electronic data aggregation e.g. Excel, ERP data, PowerBI dashboards
  • Statistical data analysis techniques e.g. Normal Distribution, Statistical Process Control Charts, Hypothesis Testing.
  • Trained Kaizen facilitator & familiarity with Lean toolset.
  • Nuclear Industry Experience

  • Frequent travel to suppliers is needed – often >25%, occasionally 50% of time in busy periods.
