Objective of job

Take charge of reman/repair session clarification and evaluation for global buy HV battery development. Lead the repairability/remanability analysis of HV battery in China during the product developing phase with RD. Take charge of global buy HV battery reman product engineering development when the supplier is a Chinese company. Set up the central repair process as PEP-Repair project lead for the supplier HV battery and support supplier HV battery PEP-Reman process. Monitor and guide supplier daily operation to ensure high KPI performance. Coordinate among RD, Quality and supplier regarding technical topics and release process, and among Finance, Logistics, IT and Product Management regarding commercial topics. Support senior manager to fulfill department targets.

Main tasks

1. Remanability and Repairability Concept Development for global buy HV battery

Involved in MB new HV supplier battery development with potential Chinese supplier and RD groups for PKW and VAN before nomination; develop remanufacturing and central repair requirements in KLH documentation; clarify technical requirements to suppliers; review product concept proposals; assess supplier remanability and central repairability development; align cost indicators for reman product and repair service with suppliers.

2. Engineering of supplier HVB for central repair & Reman

Lead buy HVB reman product engineering development for central repair and remanufacturing; support design-to-repair workshops and local product/process adaptations; analyze repairability during sample phases with suppliers; evaluate used components for reuse; develop non-destructive disassembly, cleaning and reassembly concepts; evaluate parameter changes of reman products versus new HVB; set up and release specification books; define and execute validation tests; ensure and interpret validation results for product release; prepare product release through series development; define repairability assessment guidelines; support EOL testing, risk assessments and quality topics; provide final release regarding remanability and repairability before design freeze; continue cooperation with suppliers to optimize product design for future generations.

3. PEP-Repair & PEP-Reman Project Management

Establish PEP-Repair project milestone schedules for supplier HVB central repair projects in China; continuously track milestones based on valid Business Unit processes; coordinate MBPTS internal departments, IPS, BMBS, IT and external suppliers locally and globally; develop central repair business process covering cash flow, material flow and information flow; identify technical and financial risks and mitigation plans; ensure project execution complies with R&D process and quality standards; solve execution issues and move challenging projects forward; take charge from product initiation to start of delivery approval; support overseas PEP-Reman project management.

4. Supplier product engineering (non-HVB)

Product development together with HQ engineer and supplier for selected product by establish/follow PEP-R/PEP-S project milestone schedules for supplier product in China; continuously track milestones based on valid Business Unit processes; coordinate MBPTS internal departments locally and globally.

5. Supplier performance Management

Monitor supplier operation and ensure quality requirements are fulfilled after SOP; cooperate with QM to conduct regular quality audits; support suppliers in CIP activities to improve quality, reduce cost and shorten lead time; report supplier KPI performance to management.

6. Interact with internal & external department and reporting

Maintain close communication with MBPTS internal teams/departments and GSP/TP; monitor and report all supplier related topics.

7. Process and Audit Fulfillment

Ensure the target agreement is successfully fulfilled. Make sure all processes and activities are in line with audit requirements and ethical standards.

Qualification

Education: M.Sc. in Automotive, Engineering or equivalent.

Experience: At least 5 years in the automotive industry especially in area of High voltage battery production and development area; rich experience in engineering program management; know-how about remanufacturing processes; familiar with problem-solving tools such as PDCA, 8D and 7 Diamonds; demonstrated inclusive behavior and strong ability to connect with and influence team members.

Specific knowledge: Excellent spoken and written English and German; professional knowledge in battery assembly and testing; excellent communication ability with suppliers; rich knowledge of quality and finance topics, e.g. business case calculation and VDA6.3.

Experience in product development process and stage-gate processes to launch new products; international cross-functional project lead experience preferred.
