The Supplier Development Engineer reports directly to the Senior SDE Manager. This role will support EII Projects in Northamerica for PMR (Relays Plant), the Supplier Selection & Qualification projects driven by the PUR team, escalations on Supplier Quality Incidents as will be leading Supplier Development activities such as: Safe Launch programs, Supplier Risk Management, Continuous Improvement Plans, Surveillance Quality System Audits.
On site audit – risk assessments to new and current suppliers; work with supplier to develop capable and stable manufacturing processes
Category management – Work with and support Procurement’s strategy in establishing supply base that is capable to meet the requirement from various BU across entire company
Critical risk supplier – identify worst performed supplier, work with the affected supplier to develop and implement “get-well” plan, until supplier improve the performance
Supplier engagement – develop and build good relationship with supplier
Establish robust material qualification process (PPAP) to ensure all materials are properly qualified before release for production – New material and engineering changes
SDE metrics: Supplier Quality Incident, Supplier DPPM; Audit Schedule Hit Rate; Audit Average Score]
Work with supplier and internal cross-functional teams to drive and implement improvement actions
Supplier scorecard monitoring
Category management – Work with and support Procurement’s strategy in establishing supply base that is capable to meet the requirement from various BU across entire company
New Product Development – Early involvement to support the activities that are related to supplier and material
Engineering change – Involve, review and approve supplier and material related change
Engineering degree
Minimum 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality / Supplier Development
Experience with ISO, IATF 16949 and core tools --FMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA
Knowledge to VDA 6.3 auditing is a must
Ability to analyze
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and basic knowledge of SAP
Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and shift priorities as necessary
Good organizational skills
Good communication skills both written and oral
Result oriented
Advanced Problem-solving skills
Bilingual Spanish-English
