About the Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to join the team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital on a supplemental basis In this role, you will be responsible for decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with established standards and guidelines.

You will work in an indirect patient care environment, supporting clinical teams by ensuring the availability of sterile instruments and supplies. This role requires attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or GED
  • Training/Certification
    • Completion of a Central Service Technology Course or equivalent experience
    • Must hold or obtain within one year: CRCST, CSPDT, CBSPD, or CRM certification
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 1 year Central Sterile Processing experience
  • Communication Skills
    • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
    • Strong written communication (legible and coherent reports)
    • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Technical Skills
    • PC proficiency appropriate to job requirements
  • Knowledge/Skills
    • Medical and surgical terminology
    • Critical thinking and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to interpret gauges and monitor equipment
    • Research knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies
  • Equipment Knowledge
    • Sterilization and decontamination equipment
    • Scope disinfectors, heat sealers, incubators
    • Barcode scanners, temperature monitors, and digital systems
  • Work Schedule
    • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call
