About the Position

Harris Health is seeking a Supplemental Gastroenterology Technician II to join the GI Lab team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.

The Gastroenterology Technician II provides essential support to the nursing and medical staff of the GI Lab. Responsibilities include preparing procedure rooms, supplies, and equipment; assisting with specimen handling; and cleaning and disinfecting scopes and other equipment according to established standards.

In this role, you will also troubleshoot equipment appropriately and help maintain an efficient, safe, and well-prepared procedural environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, effective communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to professional and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in gastroenterology and/or completion of another endoscopy-related certificate program, such as a Surgical Technologist program
  • Endoscopy Technician Program, Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) Program, or SGNA Advanced Associates Program, as applicable
  • Licensure and Certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross-approved program
  • Communication Skills
  • Above-average verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a setting with frequent public and patient contact
