Function: Supply Chain

Sub Function: Engineering

Type of Contract: Permanent

Job Grade: C4

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To supervise, lead, inspire and provide support to the utilities operation team by ensuring that planned and preventative maintenance are executed including mechanical, electrical/instrumentation and provide input on utilities projects in the Engineering department.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ technical experience in a manufacturing plant of which at least 2 years should be on supervisory level.
  • Practical experience and strong knowledge with industrial utility systems, including: Ammonia Plants, CO₂ Plants, Boilers, Water Treatment and RO, Compressed Air & Effluent/wastewater.
  • Experience in FMCG manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
  • MS Office proficient (Word & Excel)
  • Plant Maintenance system (Maximo /SAP) experience will be advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Understanding of TPM principles.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Leading and coordinating planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance activities across Utilities.
  • Managing maintenance planning, scheduling and reporting.
  • Providing technical support to Utilities Process Controllers to maximise equipment reliability, availability and plant efficiency.
  • Faultfinding and trouble shooting and implementation of corrective actions .
  • Coordinating contractors and supporting Utilities optimisation and improvement projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, including legislative requirements relating to machinery safety in utility.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Managing departmental resources, overtime and leave planning.
