Are you an engineer or technologist, in the fields of mechanical systems or naval architecture and looking for an opportunity in the marine industry? Join Fleetway Inc.’s engineering team and be a part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy and the Halifax Class Design Agent contracts. Through these contracts, Fleetway’s engineers and technologists provide a full range of technical data management and engineering support services to the Royal Canadian Navy. Be part of a team that produces complex designs to support new structures and systems, that will ensure the Royal Canadian Navy is “ready to help, ready to lead, and ready to fight”.

If we sound like a team, you’d like to be a part of, and make a difference with, then we’d love to hear from you! We are looking for a qualified Supervisor, Technical Team for our Dartmouth NS, Ottawa ON or St. John's NL office.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to their team to advance the Business/Organizational and Functional/Technical competencies of their team while maintaining a cohesive group
  • Managing Professional Development Check-in process and involves goal setting and monitoring, creating personal development plans, completing required PD Check-ins
  • Manage their team’s first level employee relations issues and concerns
  • Coach and mentor team members in support of their technical development and personal development plan goals
  • Provide technical guidance and support to their team to ensure the production of assigned work occurs in an efficient manner
  • Collaborate with the Technical Team Manager, Delivery Leads and Program Managers on appropriate work assignments for team members to ensure their resources are tasked in accordance with the 1:1:1 Tiered Governance company alignment
  • Provide appropriate work assignments for team members to ensure utilization targets are met and the team’s technical skillset is enhanced/developed
  • Ensure that work is carried out by their team in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as in accordance with Fleetway’s safety policies and program
  • Administrative oversight of direct reports, including time sheet approvals, vacation approvals, sick time, expense claim approvals, etc.
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • 4-7+ years of marine experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Expertise and experience in a wide variety of engineering project environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or aptitude and passion for leading and developing people is required.
  • Demonstrated support of Fleetway/JDI values and leadership behaviours.
  • All candidates selected must be able to physically work full-time out of the office in which the position is based.
