About the role

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll supervise project, routine and reactive work, coordinate staff, support fault response, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll play a key role in planning and prioritising work, supporting your team’s capability, and maintaining strong relationships across operations, control, dispatch, contractors and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Operations Manager – Substations/Utilities, you’ll be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of substation services, including planning, commissioning, maintenance, fault response and team supervision.

You’ll bring strong operational judgement, a practical understanding of electricity distribution, and a commitment to safety and service.

What you’ll be doing

· Supervise the delivery of substation tasks and projects from planning through to commissioning

· Coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment to support efficient delivery

· Optimise the performance, development and engagement of staff

· Participate in our after-hours response roster to supervise the restoration of power supply

· Support safe work practices, compliance, quality outcomes and continuous improvement

· Build strong working relationships across internal teams, stakeholders, utilities and authorities

About you

You’ll be a confident and practical leader who can set clear expectations, keep teams focused and maintain high standards in a busy operational environment. You’ll be comfortable making decisions, solving problems and leading through pressure while keeping safety and service at the forefront.

You’ll bring:

· A registered electrical qualification with at least five years’ experience in substation maintenance activities

· Strong electricity supply industry knowledge, along with industry-specific safety requirements and electrical safety obligations

· Experience in motivating and leading teams in varying and at time challenging environments

· Strong planning, prioritisation and communication skills

· Confidence using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
