Shift:

Day ShiftFull Time, includes some weekends

Coordinates the day to day operational activities and functions within the Central Processing Department by providing team leadership to central service employees. Ensures adequate preparation and functioning of the Central Service Department. Collaborates with Perioperative Services and all other customers of the Central Processing Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Directs day to day activities of Central Processing Department and coordinates activities with the Operating Room and clinics.

  • Report daily activities to direct manager each day.

  • Performs staff level sterilization duties

  • Functions as a liaison to ensure prescribed decontamination and sterilization practices are performed in compliance with industry standards and practices

  • Manages and controls all Central Processing supplies, instruments and equipment to ensure availability, inventory control, appropriate asset management and expense control

  • Ensures proper operation of all decontamination and sterilization equipment

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • 5 years’ experience in sterile processing

  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Svc Material Mgt);  OR

  • CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) from CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution) is required.

  • Knowledge of Central Sterilization Reprocessing

  • Knowledge of standards and recommended guidelines of Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and American Society of Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP)

Skills

  • Maintains current knowledge of advances and current trends in Surgical/GI/Endo procedures and techniques

  • Demonstrates attention to detail by ensuring that all documentation is legible, complete, accurate, and factual

  • Knowledge of current practice related to hand hygiene, aseptic and sterile technique

  • Knowledge of current practice of decontamination, high level disinfection and sterilization procedures

  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives

Work Environment and Hazards:

  • Clinical setting.  Exposure Class I

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds.  Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Work Contact Group:

  • All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, and various regulatory and professional agencies.

Pay Range: $28.55 - $39.35

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
