Location: In-person, must be able to travel to all three campuses in Oakville, Mississauga and Brampton

Hours: Up to 35 hours per week- subject to change throughout the year depending on organizational priorities

Pay Rate: $20.89

SCOPE AND NATURE

Sheridan Student Union Inc. represents all fee-paying students at Sheridan College. We are a student led community enhancing the experience of our fellow students. This is achieved through participation as an active member of the Sheridan community, facilitating opportunities for student leadership, and the creation of strategic partnerships to improve the quality of life on

campus.

The Supervisor, Social Media Team is responsible for overseeing the Social Media Coordinators, planning team objectives and working alongside them to enrich the student experience beyond academics by ensuring Sheridan students receive information about SSU events, services, food operations and initiatives through SSU’s social media channels

General Responsibilities

Supervisor, Social Media Team will work closely with the Social Media Coordinators overseeing the day-to-day workflow and contribution of content creation on all SSU social media channels and will report to the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement and the Director, Marketing, Communication and Creative. The Supervisor, Social Media Team will be responsible for brainstorming and executing social media content and campaigns to facilitate community, for both the campus and broader college community, and ensure Sheridan students receive information about SSU events, services and initiatives. Supervisor, Social Media Team will be responsible for working with and maintaining the brand identity and student voice of the SSU. The Supervisor, Social Media Team will ensure that that Social Media Coordinators work in a respectful manner with all SSU Staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff and Sheridan College students.

Supervisor, Social Media Team Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day workflow of Social Media Coordinators and contribute with maintaining SSU’s content calendar in collaboration with the Social Media & Community Engagement Manager
  • Execute effective and creative social media strategies and when needed assist in the creation of content for SSU social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Facebook and YouTube)
  • Report to the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement monthly socials engagement metrics & team performance
  • Assist in the development of training materials for Social Media Coordinators alongside the Manager, Social Media & Community Engagement – as well lead team onboarding/training when needed
  • Monitor comments that are sent on Meta platforms and TikTok, respond to messages, and engage with students
  • Liaising with different departments within and outside the SSU to facilitate the promotion and community development of our events, services, clubs, governance, food services and organizational initiatives
  • Responsible for reviewing team content before publication for accuracy, brand voice and brand guidelines
  • As directed by management, will be expected to attend certain SSU day and/or night events to engage students with live social media content when needed
  • Act in such a manner that reflects the professional values and expectations of the SSUI and operate in accordance with the Values and Mission as well as the by-laws and policies of SSUI.
  • Support the Sheridan Student Union's photography, videography and multimedia content from strategy and storytelling through production and delivery as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in business, marketing, graphic design or related field
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working in a marketing related position
  • Comfortable interacting and appearing on SSU social channels, as a representative of the SSU and collaborating with SSU employees and members of the Sheridan Community to create content.
  • Strong understanding of social media / digital marketing platforms, their respective features and how to use them creatively to execute campaigns
  • Highly organized, strong time management skills
  • Proactive and able to take initiative
  • Excellent proofreading skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills – online and in person
  • Experience with Canva, Cap cut or Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, After effects, Premiere Pro) is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team accountably
  • Approachable, friendly, and reliable
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Passionate about the #SheridanLife & knowledgeable about all things SSU and passionate about the student community
