Job Description

The Supervisor, Show Direction plays a key role in maintaining and elevating the artistic vision and performance quality of entertainment experiences across Universal Horror Unleashed (UHU). This position ensures show standards are consistently upheld through regular in-venue observation, performance documentation, and delivery of timely, actionable coaching and feedback to performers and leadership. The Supervisor also supports the full show quality lifecycle—including casting, rehearsal planning, training programs, and annual brush-up processes for assigned entertainment portfolios—while assisting with the development, enhancement, and launch of new entertainment elements as directed. In collaboration with Entertainment Operations, Creative, Production, Designers, and cross-functional stakeholders, this role helps ensure both new and existing experiences are executed with consistency, guest interaction excellence, and alignment to the UHU brand and creative intent.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains show quality standards across assigned entertainment portfolios through consistent in-venue observation of creative intent, guest interaction quality, character authenticity, and movement/physicality, while providing timely written and verbal performance notes, documented evaluations, and performance coaching to hold performers accountable and continuously improve execution.
  • Working with Stage Management to develop, document, and execute rehearsal plans and training programs for assigned entertainment portfolios, including onboarding, scare school, proficiency refreshers, and role-specific performance development. Leads annual brush-up rehearsals to reinforce established standards and coordinates additional rehearsal support when performance quality concerns are identified or when new expectations are introduced.
  • Supports casting and auditions by partnering with Entertainment Operations to assess staffing needs and conducting auditions and casting at least annually for recurring roles (and as needed due to attrition/operational requirements) using a standardized evaluation process focused on character, guest interaction, improv, and movement/physicality.
  • Supports show development by assisting leadership during creation, rehearsal, and implementation of new entertainment elements, including documentation, rehearsal oversight, blocking support, and performer feedback. Serves as Show Director when assigned.
  • Maintains show quality resources and creative documentation for assigned portfolios, including character/house bibles, IP continuity requirements, creative reference materials, and music/video libraries, while researching current trends and new offerings in the themed entertainment industry.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

  • Strong live performance evaluation and coaching capability; ability to deliver notes clearly, professionally, and constructively.
  • Ability to organize and document rehearsal/training plans and show quality expectations.
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret and follow written procedures, safety rules, operating manuals, and union contract requirements (as applicable).
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to partner across business units and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure; proactive/self-starter.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • LVMPD Non-Gaming Work Card.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 2+ years of experience with directorial, teaching, coaching, and/or training experience is required, 3+ years of experience in a live entertainment and/or theatrical environment is preferred, prior supervisory experience leading teams/departments is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
