Supervisor, Senior - Inventory

The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for Supervisor, Senior - Inventory with our Supply and Logistics section of the Supply and Business Services Department.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Supply: the incumbent applies and monitors systems and processes for the management of Inventory and stock control ensuring timely supply of goods and supplies required by the mine site.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in purchasing or procurement are desirable, in addition to the key skills and experience required

  • Significant experience in purchasing roles involving international freight movement, including several years in leadership roles

  • Broad knowledge of PNG and international suppliers purchasing and delivery practices

  • Inventory management and cataloguing experience

  • General knowledge of the movement of dangerous goods by all modes of transport

  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

  • Experience in the use of computerised materials management and inventory systems

  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, and Microsoft Office suite

Job Responsibilities:

  • To maximise warehouse inventory turnover and material availability by the constant review of stock level holdings with due regard for inventory value minimisation. Close monitoring of inventory items considered critical to production.
  • Introduce alternative supply methods (eg. Consignment stock, vendor managed stock) to reduce inventory values and reduce staff activity levels.
  • Inventory control statistical reporting.
  • Close monitoring of inventory items considered critical to production. (VMI register)
  • Monitor supplier performance and update Supply Price Agreements where and when appropriate
  • Manage the ordering/re-ordering of all warehouse stock lines in a timely manner.
  • Reconciliation of discrepant invoices resulting from stock purchase orders.
  • Provide software support to departmental personnel in MS Office applications.
  • Provide training, supervision and direction to subordinates in the application and execution of acceptable inventory control, purchasing and cataloguing practices.
  • Contribute to the supply systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a Lae -based role on a rotation of 5 days on and 2 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately.
