Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for the timely, accurate processing of all Hair Lab specimens for laboratory analysis utilizing the appropriate work team; ensuring that daily sample processing is conducted in an accurate and efficient manner, following all guidelines and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintain team performance by evaluating, hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and motivating; initiating disciplinary action when appropriate.
• Assist in establishing department SOPs and safety procedures and ensure compliance.
• Set department schedules and work assignments to handle fluctuating workload.
• Interact with other operating departments to expedite flow of work and information.
• Advise management of operational problems impacting daily work flow and recommend solutions.
• Assist laboratory personnel in conducting inspections, tours of toxicology set up area.
• Perform the duties of Sample Processing Clerk and/or Positive Sample Processing Clerk as necessary due to workload or staffing considerations.
• Maintain employee attendance records and other relevant employee.
• Complete various daily production related logs and reports.
• Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all CRL, CRL subsidiaries, legal entities and client information.
• Be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
• Keep work area neat and clean.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CRL’s policies and applicable laws.
• Ensure concerns are raised to the appropriate level of management
• Be proactive in bringing ideas to management’s attention to improve productivity, services, quality, policies and procedures, cost savings, and utilization of company resources.
• Continuously improve supervisory skills through in-house training, self-study methods, and other available training resources.
Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: 1 year supervisory experience in a production oriented work environment.

The following physical attributes are required for this position:
• Sitting for extended lengths of time
• Close vision requirements due to computer work
• Repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists, and elbows for operating a computer and telephone

• Ability to hear auditory cues
• The ability to discriminate between different colors visually is considered an essential function for the position

EQUIPMENT: Centrifuge; balance, box knife; LED wand; computer terminal; laboratory coat; gloves; face shield; face mask; PC; laser printer.

OTHER: Shifts extend until work is finished; weekend work is necessary; specimens consist of body fluids and must be regarded as potentially infectious; task of disposing of negative urine specimens. Trash compactor operator requires minimum age of 18 years.
