THE POSITION

As an Event Security Supervisor within the Fan Experience and Security Team, you will play a key role in leading the team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all guests, staff, and players during events. As part of the leadership group, you will contribute to the development of Event Security Agents and Fan Experience Hosts, helping to create a safe, professional, and welcoming atmosphere for all fans where Every Moment Matters.

In this position, you will oversee frontline event security operations while supporting a fan-centric approach to service. A major focus of the role is mentoring and developing event staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support as challenges arise throughout each event.

This role is well-suited for individuals with strong leadership abilities, experience in event security, and a commitment to delivering a secure and positive fan experience at Calgary’s premier events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, mentor, and support Event Security Agents and Fan Experience Hosts, ensuring they are prepared, confident, and equipped to perform their duties professionally and efficiently.
  • Oversee fan-facing and back-of-house operations on event days, including entry gates, concourses, seating sections, and restricted areas.
  • Monitor crowd activity and proactively address emerging safety, security, or crowd management concerns.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, accurately documenting findings and any required follow-up actions.
  • Work with Event Security Agents on Incident Reporting and Use of Force Reviews, approving reports and post incident debriefings.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings to review event expectations, attendance levels, operational priorities, security procedures, and tactical skill reviews.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-risk situations, ensuring timely, effective, and appropriate responses.
  • Coordinate with the Command Centre and other key departments, including security, medical, and venue operations, to manage incidents requiring collaborative support.
  • Manage real-time staffing assignments, adapting deployments to cover call-ins, absences, and shifting operational needs.
  • Facilitate post-event debriefings with Security Agents to review performance, recognize achievements, address challenges, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure all Event Security staff follow venue policies, Fan Code of Conduct, uniform standards, and established safety procedures consistently.
  • Champion health, safety, and security initiatives, helping foster a culture of professionalism, vigilance, and exceptional fan service.
  • Support a safe and welcoming guest experience from ingress through egress, maintaining an approachable and service-focused presence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal individual will have the following background:

  • Alberta SSIA Security license and AGLC Pro-Serve, with ability to obtain AGLC Pro-Tect within 30 days of employment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous security and/or event experience, with a proven record of leadership.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people-management skills.
  • Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities, remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • A people-first approach with a genuine passion for safety, security, and creating positive fan experiences.
  • Knowledge of event operations, crowd management, emergency response protocols, and safety regulations.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holiday event schedules.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods, indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions.
