This position supervises and manages the activities of Respiratory Care Therapists and Technicians, coordinates respiratory services with referral sources, patients and physicians, and is responsible for productivity and quality control reviews. The supervisor assists with assessment of patient's respiratory care needs in conjunction with the patient care evaluation. This position also supervises activities of affiliating respiratory care students, assists with department computer operations, and performs miscellaneous other duties.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Daily Operations
Supervise and direct activities of respiratory care therapists, and technicians.
Assign work areas and determines priorities. Ensure that staffing is adequate to meet department needs, fill in as needed.
Participate in on-call rotation, coordinate respiratory services with referral sources, patients and physicians: solve and prevent problems by conferring with nurse managers and physicians.
Assists with assessment of patient respiratory needs in conjunction with patient care evaluation; assist with assessment of patient respiratory needs in view of therapy ordered and available staff; confers with physicians to adjust therapy based on clinical patient assessment

Productivity/Quality
Reviews productivity and quality control
Assesses performance/productivity and is able to determine and forecast staffing, inventory levels, and equipment needs
Maintains quality of patient care by monitoring associate charting and job performance
Reviews all incident reports

Operations
Assist in developing, reviewing and implementing new department policies, procedures and protocols.
Conduct special in-services to nursing staff, medical staff or other professionals.
Assists in evaluation of new products
Recommend and monitor methods for cost containment

Associate Management
Orient and train new associates.
Provide input for performance evaluations.
Monitor and enter associate timekeeping and payroll information.
Participate in interviews and provide input on new associates.

Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's DegreeDL - Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles

Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred

RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist

BLS ACLS

NRP

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Field of study in respiratory care. Knowledge of respiratory care technology. A minimum of three years’ clinical experience.
