What will I be doing?
As a Recreation Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the resort’s aquatic and recreation areas, ensuring a safe, efficient, and guest-focused environment. You will lead and develop the Lifeguard team, manage scheduling and training, support safety and compliance initiatives, and partner with the Director of Security to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining the highest operational standards.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead, coach, and develop Lead Lifeguards and Lifeguards to deliver exceptional guest experiences and maintain the highest safety standards.
- Manage staffing schedules, shift assignments, break coverage, and daily operational planning.
- Facilitate onboarding, training, drills, and ongoing development programs for aquatic and recreation team members.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, health codes, and aquatic safety standards.
- Oversee daily pool and recreation operations to provide a safe, efficient, and enjoyable environment for guests.
- Conduct routine inspections of pools, recreation areas, equipment, and safety systems, addressing concerns as needed.
- Respond to and coordinate emergency situations, including aquatic incidents, medical emergencies, and guest-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of certifications, inspections, training completion, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with Security, Facilities, and Guest Services teams to support safe and seamless resort operations.
- Provide leadership and support to Lead Lifeguards in resolving operational challenges, team member concerns, and guest service opportunities.
- Monitor staffing effectiveness and adjust resources based on occupancy levels, weather conditions, and business needs.
- Investigate guest concerns and implement effective solutions to enhance satisfaction and service delivery.
- Assist with the development and implementation of department policies, procedures, and safety initiatives.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including exposure to heat and sunlight.
- Ability to swim, perform water rescues, and respond effectively during emergencies.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, and perform physical activities associated with emergency response and daily operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of lifeguard experience in a high-volume aquatic environment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized organization.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Strong knowledge of aquatic safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced resort environment.
- Proficiency with scheduling and workforce management systems.
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- Experience working in a large resort, hotel, water park, or casino environment.
- Lifeguard Instructor or Lifeguard Supervisor certification.
- Experience developing and conducting training programs.
