Salaried Employees Position Description

Position: Supervisor-Production Report to Title: Production Manager

Department: Production

Grade: Exempt Location: Attica, IN

Supervise production employees in major and minor production projects.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

To direct and coordinate the operations necessary to process grids and plates for batteries at minimum cost, of specified quality, and according to production schedules.

To satisfy all reliability and quality standards in the most economical manner.

To develop, train and motivate hourly employees to acquire maximum efficiency, productivity, and cooperation and moral using Key Values.

SUPERVISION

Direct supervisor responsibility for production employees assigned to that department.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Decisions made or actions taken on own authority:

Provides instructions, guidance, and direction to assist hourly work force having assembly difficulties and procedural problems.

Coordinates and participates in general administrative and technical programs such as cost reduction, methods, communications, safety and housekeeping, and employee training.

Anticipates production problems such as potential delays, material shortages, equipment repair and the like. Devises and implements procedures to prevent or minimize loss of man hours and scheduled interruptions.

  • Decisions/actions that require support of associates or higher approval:

Ensures proper disposition of rework and scrap through repair of such items or documentation material that is scrapped.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, skills, knowledge, experience, etc.)

Minimum high school graduate

Minimum three years’ work experience in supervisory experience

Written and oral communication skills

Ability to enter data on computer

Supervision experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

Performance of responsibilities occurs in a manufacturing office environment and requires the use of standard business and office equipment. Must be able to stand or sit for an extended period of time, and to climb a flight of stairs several times a day. Some travel is required in this position.
