Supervisor, Production


The Supervisor, Production will be responsible for leading the activities and managing the production team supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). The main emphasis for this position is coordinating all aspects of the team regarding electrical and mechanical completion, workflow, quality, safety, training, and efficiency. The Supervisor, Production will coordinate with the Production Manager, Engineering, Controls, and other project stakeholders to ensure systems are mechanically and electrically complete, properly tested, documented, and ready for customer FAT and shipment.


Job Functions:

  • Responsible for overall safety in production and FAT areas. Ensure team members follow safe work practices and do not put themselves or others in danger.
  • Effectively manage all direct reports and be responsible for hiring, training, performance evaluation, development, retention, and termination activities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the area and maintain a high-level understanding of electrical design, mechanical assembly, production, controls integration, FAT, and shipping requirements for projects.
  • Plan workflow and work assignments required for electrical assembly, mechanical completion, system power-up, troubleshooting, and FAT activities.
  • Develop production and FAT goals and schedules, distribute tasks, and monitor progress against project deadlines.
  • Oversee FAT readiness and execution, ensuring electrical components, mechanical assemblies, guarding, labeling, safety devices, and required documentation are complete and meet project requirements.
  • Ensure quality through standard work, updated work instructions, process inspections, and completion of required quality checks.
  • Lead problem-solving and corrective-action activities for electrical or mechanical defects, FAT issues, and project delays.
  • Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives, provide coaching, complete performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Promote continuous improvement and maintain visibility of daily performance indicators related to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and FAT completion.
  • Participate in project and manufacturing kickoff meetings and coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Controls, Project Management, and other departments as needed.
  • This position requires flexibility as workload demands to support project execution. Assist with production, safety, and quality risk assessment and mitigation activities. Any and all job duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 5% travel. (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Automation)

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience (or comparable experience) in a high-production, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • High School education or GED; relevant electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, production, and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong industrial electrical and mechanical aptitude with experience supporting equipment assembly, integration, or system testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering prints, and assembly specifications.
  • Working knowledge of electrical components, mechanical assemblies, material handling equipment, safety devices, and system power-up/energization.
  • Understanding of project requirements related to FAT, quality documentation, and shipping.
  • Results-driven and able to identify problems and improvement opportunities through visual management and other problem-solving tools.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.
  • Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to give direction, receive feedback, and handle tense situations that arise.
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel and Word. Ability to safely operate or supervise the operation of production equipment as required Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
