The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor coordinates and oversees daily Workflow and Pharmacy Operations. This position also has responsibility for direct supervision and leadership of the technician staff.
Key Outcomes:
- Responsible for promoting and supporting the culture and values of the organization
- Responsible for building and maintaining trust between pharmacy staff and pharmacy management and organizational leadership.
- Develops and maintains the daily schedule for the technician staff. Supervises the technician staff and coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of that staff in the pharmacy.
- Assesses the workflow on a regular basis and assures the smooth completion of the daily workload. Facilitates this goal by working directly with both the Pharmacist and Technician staff daily.
- Works to help define new policies and procedures.
- Monitors accuracy according to established quality standards
- Participates in problem solving and process improvement projects within the pharmacy.
- Monitors and addresses all time off requests for all direct reports. Works with manager to coordinate scheduling of pharmacists’ time off to assure overall adequate staffing.
- Serves a key role in training of the pharmacy technician staff and development of written standards and materials for training through a documented departmental training program.
- Provides ongoing feedback, coaching and recognition to pharmacy technician staff.
- Oversees call center staff and monitors calls to ensure meeting guidelines and NCQA standards. (Mail Order Pharmacy only)
- Performs all the duties of a pharmacy technician as needed as outlined in the job description for a Pharmacy Technician.
- Develops, implements, and routinely updates departmental operating policies and procedures for the pharmacy. Ensures the pharmacy staff is appropriately trained in updated policies and procedures.
- Provides input and participates in quality initiatives or process improvements for the Pharmacy.
- Works with other pharmacy managers to identify & coordinate best practices among the pharmacies.
- Supports Pharmacy Inventory initiatives and supports both the operating and capital budgets for the pharmacy as requested under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager.
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree or combination of relevant education and experience
- 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Direct technician experience and training in large volume pharmacy setting preferred.
License/Certification:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.
- Current technician registration or eligibility for registration in the state(s) required.
