This position is eligible for relocation depending on location.
First line supervisor of all pharmacy activities related to medication preparation and distribution for designated shift(s). Directly responsible for activities of technical personnel assisting in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages including neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Under the direction of the clinical manager, provides guidance as needed to staff pharmacists related to sharing of workload and professional/clinical decision-making.
· Supervises medication preparation and distribution during designated shift(s).
· Acts as an on-site resource and advisor related to:
· Even distribution of workload
· Reviewing and interpreting medication orders
· Events or medication orders requiring immediate or timely attention of the appropriate clinical or management Pharmacy staff member
· Fulfills the role of a staff pharmacist in the main pharmacy, including IV room.
· Assists in evaluating and assuring appropriate staffing to maintain pharmacy services during designated shift(s). In doing so, takes into account fluctuations in workload (high and low) and unplanned staff vacancies. Promotes “leaving early” of pharmacists and technicians when appropriate.
· Resolves shift to shift issues and informs appropriate Manager of perpetual or unresolved problems.
General Requirements:
· Pharmacy degree (B.S. or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE approved College of Pharmacy.
· Licensed, or eligible for licensure, pharmacist in Iowa.
· Minimum one year experience in hospital pharmacy.
· Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
