Schedule: Fulltime 40hrs/week

What You’ll Do

Works under the direction of the Director of Perioperative Services to plan, implement, direct, coordinate and evaluate all clinical staff for the Main Operating Room (CVOR). Collaborates with other management team members to develop and foster an effective clinical climate. Ensures adequate staffing for daily operations.Participate in daily planning meetings with anesthesia and a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate maximum effective use of resources and proactively address operational safety concerns. Works jointly with the perioperative leadership team, surgeons, anesthesia, and staff to comply with the health system’s mission, vision, values, goals, long range plans, product lines, services, capital and operation budgets, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates departmental orientation, training, and competency for all staff.

  • Maintains clinical competency of surgeries performed within the MOR.

  • Collaborates with Director in the development and implementation of Main OR policies and procedures.

  • Collaborates with physicians as valued partners seeking and utilizing their expertise in long range planning, business development, strategy development, problem solving, policy development, and other issues of importance to the physician and/or department.

  • Assists with implementing new policies and procedures according to best practice and evidence-based practice.

  • Oversees the Main OR schedule and daily operations by working with the Charge RN and RN Clinical Coordinator to ensure that the most effective patient flow and resource management occurs daily.

  • Assists in developing, implementing, and reporting effective quality monitors to improve the function of the department and effective patient care as measured by positive trends in Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

  • Maintains staffing at optimum levels as measured by productivity data and employee retention. Oversees staff schedules.

  • Actively participates in recruitment of vacant positions.

  • Assists with new product evaluations and implementation.

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with staff and physicians. Resolves issues as they arise.

  • Identifies equipment and supply needs of the department.

  • Performs new hire and annual employee evaluations.

  • Conducts interviews in conjunction with the Director of Perioperative Services.

  • Assist clinically in the Main Operating Room, as necessary.

Requirements

Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
