Job Description

Position: Supervisor of Custodial Services, Second Shift

POSITION SUMMARY: This is a supervisory administrative position in the Fall River Public Schools, with district-wide responsibilities for a healthy, safe and secure learning environment. The incumbent will assist the director in managing, supervising and reviewing time & attendance, work assignments, the quantity, priority and quality of work product and the professional development of the custodial work forces. This position will be responsible to supervise the second shift custodians who clean the schools outside the school hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Possession of valid, state-issued driver's license.
  3. Five or more years of experience as a provider of environmental services (i.e., custodial care, housekeeping, sanitation, safety, security, waste management, pest control etc.).
  4. Working knowledge of: HVAC systems and computer-based energy management systems
  5. Working knowledge of email, MS Office/"google docs" recordkeeping, School Dude or similar application.
  6. Applicable building, health, safety and security code compliance standards and regulations
  7. Demonstrable oral and written communication skills.
  8. A stable employment history with an outstanding record of attendance.
  9. Experience as a provider of environmental services in a school setting.
  10. Three or more years of supervisory experience within a collective bargaining environment; or three or more years supervisory experience that included performance evaluations and measures of progressive discipline.
  11. Working knowledge of communicable disease prevention and control standards and regulations.

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, implements and reviews custodial care plans based on the specific needs of each school facility; manages implementation and redevelops plans as needed for each facility; reviews work schedules to maximize efficiencies.
  2. Oversees work requests related to environmental services to ensure optimal response including school events, building security, surveillance systems, unique custodial requests, waste management, pest controls, lock and key systems, fire alarm and fire suppression systems, and helps maintain work order records by facility.
  3. Participates in the facility assignments of all personnel; maintains and develops training and professional development and in the supervision and evaluation of employee performance.
  4. Ensures first-line administrative compliance with terms and conditions of organized labor agreements of custodians.
  5. Helps establish and monitor appropriate inventory level of all material resources for both field and central supply.
  6. Monitors cost-effective use/conservation of resources (including energy) and recommends changes as warranted.
  7. Identifies situations requiring 'emergency' or high priority action; responds accordingly.
  8. Validates need and recommends use of overtime hours; and monitors equitable distribution overtime.
  9. Assists with resource and material specifications for procurement.
  10. Participates in the identification and selection of best qualified, reputable sources of supply.
  11. Assist with maintaining product usage data.
  12. Hours could vary(as needed basis)only.
  13. All other duties as assigned by the COO or designee

Reports To: Director of Custodial Services

Supervises: Custodial Staff

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established within an individual contract.

Salary: Salary and work year as negotiated, based on experience. $70,000-$80,000
