Position Description
Summary/Purpose:
This position supervises the custodial services for the University Campus and Magnet School Buildings. This position primarily supervises routine cleaning and maintenance operations. This position must also perform various cleaning, transport and maintenance tasks.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Performs routine custodial services and general maintenance in school buildings as needed
- Maintains and assure proper inventory of cleaning supplies and condition of equipment for all buildings, including buildings that don’t have designated custodial coverage
- Provides guidance and direction to custodial personnel and ensures the safe handling of all cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Supervises subcontract cleaning companies especially during school breaks
- Performs monthly inspections of all buildings, maintains records of inspections and reports issues to the proper subcontract company and director of custodial operation
- Manages overtime for all buildings
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and ensures all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation permits
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
- Knowledge of custodial services and cleaning, proper use and application of cleaning chemicals, safe operation of cleaning equipment and good supervisory skills
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
QualificationsMinimum
Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience in custodial services and maintenance or six months on the job experience
- Two years of management/supervisor experience.
Special Requirements:
- CT Driver’s license and insured vehicle
