Job Description

Overview:
As the Billing Supervisor at the Barber National Institute, you will provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for the Revenue Cycle Management billing team. This newly created role serves as a key support between leadership and billing staff, ensuring workflows remain organized, billing issues are resolved efficiently, and team members receive the guidance and accountability needed to succeed.
You will act as the primary point of contact for billing questions, escalations, and operational support for a team of approximately 8 billing professionals. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively balance staff supervision, workflow management, cross-department collaboration, and problem-solving in a fast-paced healthcare billing environment.
This position requires strong in-office visibility and collaboration while offering some schedule and remote flexibility. Candidates must be local to Erie, PA.

What You’ll Have:
• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
• Prior experience supervising or managing staff required
• Experience in medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle operations, or related billing environments preferred
• Experience working in highly regulated or complex billing environments preferred
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills
• Experience with EHR systems and healthcare records
• Familiarity with billing software platforms
• CareLogic experience strongly preferred, though not required

A Typical Day May Include:
• Supervising and supporting billing staff in daily operations, workflow management, and issue resolution
• Serving as the primary resource for billing questions, escalations, and operational concerns
• Monitoring billing and accounts receivable work queues to ensure claims are submitted and resolved within established timelines
• Collaborating with program staff, managers, and internal departments to resolve billing concerns and maintain strong communication
• Assisting staff with complex billing scenarios, denials management, claim corrections, and payer inquiries
• Reviewing productivity, accountability, and workflow progress to ensure departmental expectations are met
• Supporting billing operations by assisting with claims processing, rebilling, payment applications, and account adjustments as needed
• Identifying workflow challenges and partnering with leadership to implement process improvements
• Coordinating onboarding, training, and ongoing education for billing staff
• Maintaining visibility into daily billing operations and escalating trends or high-risk issues when appropriate
• Ensuring compliance with payer regulations, organizational policies, and billing standards
• Providing operational coverage and support during periods of high volume, staff absence, or vacancies
• Building relationships and establishing credibility with team members and internal stakeholders
