Job Description

Demonstrates advanced technical and clinical expertise in neurodiagnostic procedures, including routine and complex EEGs, long-term monitoring, and other neurodiagnostic testing. Combines technical proficiency with supervisory experience to ensure accurate, high-quality testing and adherence to ABRET standards. Exercises significant independent judgment in daily operations, including staff scheduling, workload distribution, and prioritization of inpatient and outpatient studies. Makes critical decisions impacting patient care quality, staff performance, and departmental efficiency. Provides input on capital equipment needs, quality metrics, and policy development. Balances patient care demands, technical troubleshooting, and staff competency issues while maintaining regulatory compliance and workflow efficiency. Regularly interprets complex data and adjusts operations to meet fluctuating hospital needs. Uses sound professional judgment to resolve challenges. Leads the EEG department by supervising technologists, coordinating assignments, and mentoring team members in advanced testing and professional growth. Provides performance feedback, conducts competency evaluations, and fosters a positive, accountable work culture. Operates autonomously within established policies and goals, collaborating closely with physicians, managers, and other departments to ensure consistent service delivery and clinical excellence. Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and patient experience. Identifies opportunities to expand services and improve quality of care through technology updates, staff training, and workflow optimization.

1. Evaluation and Analysis

a. Performs standard Electro neurodiagnostic procedures (e.g., Auditory Brainstem response, Visual Evoke Response, Somatosensory Evoke Potential, Clinical EEG's, ECI, Surgical Monitoring, long term monitoring) as well as electrocardiogram testing and specialized procedures as ordered by physicians.

b. Develops required reports and maintains accurate records for use in evaluating departmental performance. Identifies ways of improving current services and consults with supervisors on employee and operational issues and problems.

c. Prepares patient by explaining procedures and applies electrodes to predetermined measured positions. Monitors patient's condition during the course of study and maintains preparation for cardiac, respiratory, and other emergencies which may develop while reassuring patients and attempting to reduce their fears.

2. Quality

a. Assists with departmental policies and procedures that ensure the prudent and efficient provision of high-quality health care services.

b. Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.

c. Promotes and encourages the growth and development of staff members by encouraging their participation in approved continuing education activities such as professional conferences, seminars, and workshops. Advocates continuing education as a means of promoting the high-quality services provided by all departmental personnel.

3. Collaboration and Partnership

a. Selects, trains, orients, and assigns departmental staff members in a manner that ensures efficient departmental operations and complies with relevant regulations governing the employment process. Assists with and monitors departmental duty assignments and oversees departmental staffing levels.

b. Collaborates with physicians regarding clinical aspects of patient care in an effort to ensure the provision of high-quality health care services by the department.

c. Develops positive relationships between the hospital and community agencies, special interest and civic groups, and professional affiliations by acting as a hospital representative. Works through civic groups and public education activities to improve community health and foster the hospital's image as a leader in the health care industry.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or R. EEG T. certification

Licensure/Certification: R. EEG T. certification
