Job Title: Supervisor, Mobile Maintenance
Reporting to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance, the Supervisor, Mobile Maintenanceis responsible foroverseeing and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and reliability of all mobile equipment, light vehicles, and associated support systems at the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Leadership & Supervision
Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to Mobile Maintenance staff.
Coordinate daily maintenance activities and prioritize work based on operational needs and safety requirements.
Ensure adequate staffing, task allocation, and shift coverage for mobile maintenance operations.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Maintenance Planning & Execution
Oversee the maintenance program for all mobile equipment and light vehicles, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
Review and approve maintenance schedules, work orders, and repair plans to minimize equipment downtime.
Monitor equipment performance and maintenance trends to proactively address potential reliability issues.
Support troubleshooting and complex repairs when required
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, environmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular safety meetings, hazard assessments, and site inspections.
Promote a strong safety culture and intervene when unsafe practices are observed
Documentation & Reporting
Ensure accurate completion of maintenance documentation, including work orders, inspections, and equipment history records.
Provide regular updates to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance regarding equipment status and team performance.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with Operations, Reliability, and Planning teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and operational efficiency.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance, or management team.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications:
Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (NOC 72401) or equivalent
High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary technical training in heavy equipment maintenance is preferred. Supervisory or leadership training is an asset
Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Experience / Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, preferably in mining or heavy industrial environments
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or lead-hand experience is preferred
Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and diagnostic tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
Ability to work in a remote, outdoor, and physically demanding environment
Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position isCAD $100,000-$115,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determinedona number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
