Supervisor, Mill Operations

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Are you passionate about training, safety, and operational excellence? Do you thrive in a dynamic, hands-on mining environment? If you are an experienced training professional who excels in mill operations, instructional delivery, and competency development, we want you on our team!

As a Supervisor, Mill Operations, you will be responsible for supervising personnel and activities performed in the process plant. The successful candidate would also promote company safety programs, providing strong leadership to ensure conformance to government regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, communicate and follow work for the mill group;
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and practices;
  • Provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to members of the crew;
  • Hold yourself and crew members accountable towards attainment of safety and performance targets;
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Maintenance, Engineering, Geology, Environment and UG Operations to achieve site wide objectives and address any issues that may arise
  • Perform workplace inspections and plan corrective measures if required;
  • Report work planned and realized daily using the tools provided;
  • Perform monthly HS meetings with crews presenting the material provided;
  • Develop detailed understanding of the process flow sheets including grinding, flotation, CIL, elutions and refinery operations.
  • Fill monthly compliance records; and
  • Any other task as directed by direct supervisor.

What You Bring to the Table

  • A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in milling operations
  • Supervisory and mill common core;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently;
  • Computer proficient;
  • Post-secondary education in mining related field would be an asset;
  • Good communication skills, coupled with strong leadership abilities; and
  • Qualified as train the trainer would be an asset.

Working Conditions

  • 7 days on, 7 days off, rotating schedule – 12 hour shifts
  • This role is based at the Young-Davidson operation and supports mill training activities in an active mining environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an active industrial environment, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and conducting on-site training and assessments as required.

Travel & Accommodation

  • Travel Allowance of up to $25.00 CAD per day
