Supervisor - Mechanical Assembly

The Opportunity
The Mechanical Assembly Supervisor is responsible for managing the workflow of their team(s) by assigning tasks, work orders, supporting staff, monitoring results, and reporting to the Production Manager. They contribute to the efficiency of their department by reviewing and improving processes and setting targets for their teams. Provides Team Leads with information, materials, and training, enabling them to produce the highest quality product possible, monitoring records for attendance, payroll, production, safety, and ISO (quality). Encourages the development of ideas from other supervisors, team leads, and employees.
What you will do?
- Devise work schedules and implement deadlines.
- Planning workloads, work orders, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress against targets.
- Ensure timeliness, safety, and quality of material movement.
- Responsible for safe work practices, maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring work crews follow safe practices and HSE programs, including Lock-out Tag-out.
- In conjunction with the EHS Manager, trains employees on changes in safety regulations, work policies, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Address production quality issues to ensure quality standards are upheld.
- Ensure employee labor hours are recorded to the proper projects and ensure necessary coverage to complete work on time.
- Address employee performance issues in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies, consulting with Human Resources as appropriate.
- Provide input on performance reviews and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Facilitate the training and onboarding of new employees.
- Monitor/Approve timecards for all members of their team.
- Develop skills and abilities of team members.
- Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its core values, and other associates while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
- Build positive rapport with employees at all levels of the organization
- Completes tasks as directed by the Production Manager with minimal supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience is a must.
- Lead by example to include: demonstrates strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, can do attitude, great attendance, and excellent safety awareness.
- Ability to create and understand reports to make production decisions.
- Strong attention to detail, prioritization and time management skills.
- Creative thinker with proven problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and oversee multiple teams.
- Commitment to the concept of continual improvement, effective quality management systems and safe work practices.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow product specification instructions which may require use of 3D models.
- Understanding the production and work order process.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Physical fitness and strength to lift 30-50 lbs. regularly.
- Regularly required to stand, bend, crouch and reach.
- Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days as needed.
- Travel required (up to 20%)
