Job Description

This position is responsible for the successful implementation of the materials management function for a specific facility and/or designated area. This primarily includes, but is not limited to, supply replenishment and maintenance of a perpetual inventory. As a supervisor of staff, this position coordinates work assignments, approves time and attendance and ensures that relevant policies, procedures are implemented consistently. This position participates in hiring replacement staff, develops and provides training for new and existing employees. This position may also assist in disciplinary action, when necessary.This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Leads the department work efforts consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Establishes staff goals, and the operational strategy of the department.
  • Sets staff schedules to provide optimal service coverage for clinical areas.
  • Trains and educates staff, as needed.
  • Approves the accurate time and attendance of direct reports.
  • Participates in hiring, orientation and development of new staff.
  • Conducts employee evaluations, coaching and assists in disciplinary processes to align employee performance and behaviors.
  • Evaluates monthly operating statements and participates in preparing annual budgets.
  • Collaborates with other facility departments to provide appropriate service levels to clinical areas.
  • Ensures compliance with DNV requirements related to the area of responsibility.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated organizational, human relations and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve staff and scheduling conflicts in order to meet department goals and needs.
  • Ability to orchestrate multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree in a related field, or the equivalency.
  • Three (3) years of experience in materials management, including working with a perpetual inventory.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

    • Supervisory experience
    • Master’s degree in related field, or equivalency
    • Experience managing a receiving dock
    • Experience managing a courier fleet
    • Experience with mail handling

  • This position involves intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.
