The Materials Management Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily activities of Storeroom and Receiving departments. In this role, you will direct activities relating to the storage and distribution of supplies, equipment, use electronic handheld devices, pallet jacks, copiers, fax machines, carts, and other equipment to perform regular duties, as well as perform cycle counts and physical inventories. This role also uses Material Management Information System to order, track, and deliver products and complies with established policies and procedures.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm with no weekends required and holidays off. This role will be stationed at the new Neuro Building at CC Main Campus.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Develop work schedule for Materials Handlers.
  • Assign tasks to staff and inspect work.
  • Supervise the receiving process, verifies quantities and information of products received to Purchase Order, and directs the prompt delivery of supplies, equipment, forms, mail, and other items to requesting locations.
  • Assist with reconciliation of discrepancies and notifies management when necessary.
  • Investigate errors on shipped items and corrects problems as necessary.
  • Record signatures for delivery purposes.
  • Inspects packages for damage and resolve damaged items with supplier and reports unresolved damage issues with management as necessary.
  • Complete staff performance reviews.
  • Establish department goals and organize processes to meet stated goals.
  • Develop training and education process for department tasks.
  • Demonstrate use of process improvement techniques and philosophies.
  • Supervise data entry into Material management Information System to record requisitions, receipts, and returns.
  • Verify system information and take appropriate steps to reconcile when necessary.
  • Research errors to find cause and route as necessary to resolve.
  • Assist with the physical inventory process.
  • Count and verify supplies in inventory and reports discrepancies to upper management as necessary.
  • Engage and follow up on the Purchasing Department (buyers) as necessary.
  • Provide management with variance reports on discrepancies in supply budgets.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics sufficient to add and subtract to maintain accurate logs
  • May require appropriate Valid Driver’s License (VDL) to drive box truck
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • 1 years of experience in inventory control functions with responsibility for par levels, purchasing functions, inventory analysis, and usage trends OR High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of related experience
  • On-the-Job Training: Six months on-the-job training required to learn specialized surgery components, inventory systems, and departmental policies and procedures

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Experience in healthcare supply chain function

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the health system to attend meetings.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
  • Must have own transportation to travel to multiple sites.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
