Department information

Terumo’s Pharmaceutical Solutions Division (PSD) operates as a CDMO at the Chempark in Leverkusen, supporting the end-to-end manufacturing of pharmaceutical and biological drug products in a highly regulated GMP environment.

Within this dynamic setting, we are looking for a Supervisor to join our Formulation, Visual Inspection and Fill & Finish team The team prepares drug product formulations, performs visual inspection activities and helps ensure high-quality production that supports patient care.

This hands-on, shift-based production environment combines strong shopfloor presence with close cross-functional collaboration and increasing interaction with international stakeholders.

As operations continue to evolve, this role offers the opportunity to help build, shape and further optimize activities within an expanding team.

As a Supervisor, you are leading formulation and visual inspection activities within a GMP-regulated production environment, combining operational oversight with people leadership. The role focuses on building and developing a growing team, ensuring quality and performance while contributing to the evolution of the department. This is a hands-on, shift-based role requiring flexibility, ownership and a strong team-oriented mindset.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead daily formulation and visual inspection operations in line with production requirements, quality standards and customer expectations

  • Manage, coach and develop a growing team of operators and shift leaders, currently around 6–8 direct reports, with further team growth expected

  • You coordinate production activities, shift priorities and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution

  • Act as the key point of contact between production, technical teams and other cross-functional stakeholders

  • Support equipment start-up activities, technical transfers, validation projects and the introduction of new products

  • You monitor operational KPIs and implement actions to improve efficiency, team performance and operational excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with GMP, safety, environmental and quality standards

  • Lead investigations related to deviations, quality issues and safety incidents while promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous learning

Profile description

  • A degree in a scientific discipline, chemical engineering or equivalent experience provides a strong foundation for success in this role

  • Experience within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing is important, ideally within a Fill & Finish or CDMO environment

  • Whether you already have leadership experience or are ready to take the next step, you know how to motivate, coach and develop others

  • Knowledge of Fill & Finish processes, including formulation, visual inspection and aseptic manufacturing, is considered a strong asset

  • You are comfortable working within GMP-regulated environments and understand the importance of documentation quality and compliance

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is a plus

  • Collaboration comes naturally and you enjoy building strong relationships across different teams

  • A structured mindset, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities help you thrive in a dynamic production environment

  • Fluency in both German and English is essential for team leadership and cross-functional collaboration
