• Perform supervisor responsibilities and recommend related actions, for example, hire/fire, disciplinary actions, PMP, training and certifications, work assignments, scheduling vacation, monitoring attendance, review, approve, and verify employees hours worked and paid, and verify employees charge time to correct aircraft and project
• Attend aircraft review and status meetings to identify issues, problems, and concerns, prioritize projects, and develop daily schedule for assigned area(s)
• Coordinate with other flight test supervisors in assigning labor to accommodate fluctuating workload
• Participate in readiness review meetings with internal customers (i.e., Montreal, Toronto, and Learjet) to plan aircraft testing and identify, for example, special testing requirements and conditions, required equipment, fabricated parts and engineering documents, and provide time estimates
• Coordinate and communicate with Methods, Stores, and Engineering on aircraft installations, reconfigurations, issues during aircraft down-times and as required
• Review assigned area(s) to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) directives
• Provide training, monitor training schedule, and document training received for flight test directives, skill certifications, and safety training
• Verify parts, equipment, and facility availability and readiness to support aircraft testing schedule
• Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, and controllers to resolve and clear aircraft dispositions
• Conduct weekly crew meetings
• Ensure hangar and assigned work area(s) remain clean and free from foreign object debris (FOD)
• May oversee flight stores, shipping, receiving, and traffic areas and daily operations
• May oversee fabrication and machining of parts, test equipment, and structures in support of aircraft testing
• Must be available to work all shifts
• Typically 3 years of experience as an aircraft mechanic, electrical technician, sheet metal fabrication, and/or structures technician, which must include at least 1 year in a lead role in one of the above areas.
• Computer skills necessary to learn and/or operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and web-based applications
• Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workload of assigned area and employees within a multiple project setting
• Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, management, and contractors
• Technical reading skills necessary to read and interpret Engineering documents or schematics
• Must be able to obtain an A&P license or General Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Operators Radio Telephone License
