Supervisor Finance & Collection

The Supervisor Finance & Collection at Guardian Group Fatum is responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day Finance and Collections activities and ensuring that the financial administration is complete, accurate, timely, controlled and audit-ready.

This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone who combines strong financial and accounting knowledge with analytical capability, business understanding and people leadership.

Although the position is based in the Aruba office and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day Finance and Collections activities of the Aruba operations, the Supervisor forms an integral part of the wider Guardian Group Fatum Finance team, operating from Curaçao. The role therefore requires close and regular collaboration with the Finance Manager, Reporting team and other Finance colleagues in Curaçao to ensure consistent processes, controls, reporting standards and priorities across the Group. Occasional travel to the Curaçao office will be required.

The Supervisor also works closely with operational departments to understand developments affecting Finance, provide financial support where necessary and help resolve financial, process or data-related matters. The role acts as a key financial resource and sounding board for local management, providing management with a clear view of financial performance, key movements, risks and the financial implications of business decisions.

What are you going to do?

• Lead and coordinate the Finance and Collections team in Aruba, set priorities, ensure quality and timely execution, and coach and develop team members.
• Coordinate month-, quarter- and year-end closing, financial administration, reconciliations, general ledger integrity, cash, receivables and financial controls.
• Oversee the premium collection process, including aged receivables, high-risk accounts, unallocated payments and appropriate collection actions.
• Understand financial data flows across operational systems, sub-ledgers and the general ledger, and support the resolution of financial, data and reconciliation issues.
• Partner with operational departments and local management, providing financial guidance and clear insights into financial movements, profitability, costs, collections, cash flow and the financial impact of business decisions.
• Work closely with the Finance team in Curaçao and Group Finance, ensuring alignment in accounting, controls, reporting, deadlines and Group initiatives, and serve as a key Finance contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, data quality, reporting and efficiency.
• Travel occasionally to Curaçao for Finance meetings, projects, training, audit activities and other Group-related matters.

What do we expect from you?

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field, with preferably 5+ years of relevant Finance or Accounting experience in a senior, supervisory or coordinating role.
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or applicable local accounting/regulatory standards, with a good understanding of insurance accounting principles.
• Strong experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, collections, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and financial analysis.
• Strong data-driven mindset, with the ability to understand financial data flows, identify inconsistencies and translate financial and operational information into meaningful insights.
• Ability to connect business and operational developments to their financial impact and provide practical financial guidance to management and non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, Power Query, Power BI and accounting systems; reporting, analytics or data-visualization experience is an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across Aruba and Curaçao, while maintaining high standards of compliance, governance and integrity.
• Good command of English and Dutch; knowledge of Papiamentu and/or Spanish is an advantage.
