Dentistry | General Practice Residency
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant Supervisor to join its General Practice Residency Program, part of the Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry Division.
The successful candidate will manage the daily operations and dental assistants of the College of Dentistry General Practice Residency clinic by monitoring and coordinating the workload, approving time and leave, hiring, training and evaluating the dental assistant staff; provide assistance in all areas of the General Practice Residency clinic for the College; may help take intra- and extra-oral radiographs as needed; may provide chairside dental assisting as needed, provides assistance to residents, manage patient flow through clinic; order and maintain clinic supplies, track orders and deliveries, ensure financial supply records are correct and ensure maintenance of a supply of sterilized instruments.
Responsibilities may also include maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for the GPR patients, residents, staff and faculty; maintain quality assurance and infection control in the General Practice Residency clinic; evaluate and inspect the clinic equipment to ensure adequate operation and to report and follow-up on any deficiencies to the residency Associate Program Director or the Program Director; provide support and act as the General Practice Residency Program liaison between incoming residents and the OSU hospital system including hospital credentialing and direct communication and coordination with the many entities, rotation sites and outside programs in which the GPR residents interact; facilitate the resident candidate application review process and coordinate the interview process for next year’s residents.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to cooperate with and lead co-workers to maintain a friendly, safe and professional atmosphere, possess critical thinking and problem solving abilities; experience in ordering supplies and reconciliation of monthly expenses; understand technical instructions and mechanical procedures, ability to bend, reach, stretch, squat, twist, lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for long duration of time, maintain accurate records; ability to be able to train staff, possess strong computer skills and provide other duties as required.
The position's work schedule is Monday through Friday; hours usually starting at 7:30am and ending at 4:30pm. To facilitate patient care, occasional extended hours may be required Monday through Friday, possibly including weekends.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
This position requires dexterity in the fingers and be able to use both hands, and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, and operate dental equipment.
Required: 3 years’ experience as a dental assistant and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Desired: 4-8 years’ experience.
