Job Description

This position reports to the Manager. Supervisor is responsible for daily supervision of hourly employees ensuring that both customer service and internal measurements are held to the highest standards.

Primary Accountabilities:

Customer Service – Provide all customers served by this facility with quality products and services in a timely, accurate manner which is consistent with corporate goals and objectives.

Expense and Productivity – Monitor all facets of department activities to ensure that productivity and expense controls are consistent with budget goals and objectives.

Human Resources – Maintain a non-union environment which fosters an atmosphere that encourages teamwork among employees, promotes superior levels of achievement, and reduces employee turnover. Maintain acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.

Asset Management – Monitor proper use of equipment and utilization of manpower to achieve facility goals. Maintain acceptable accuracy levels and control inventory shrinkage.

Compliance – Operate department in a manner that complies with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Orgill corporate compliance narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service

Promote superior customer service throughout the distribution center.

Ensure departmental performance effectively meets customer demands and corporate goals.

Limit amount of damages, shortages, mis-picks and billing errors.

Expense and Productivity

Measure and monitor department quality and production levels.

Train and coach employees to achieve quality and production standards.

Communicate all service and operational deficiencies to the Department Manager.

Human Resource Management

Ensure staffing levels are maintained to provide superior customer service with minimal overtime and non-productive time.

Promote teamwork and superior levels of achievement throughout the distribution center.

Minimize employee turnover, retain good employees.

Achieve acceptable levels on employee opinion surveys.

Develop individual team members through coaching and correcting.

Uphold, support and maintain company safety standards.

Maintain a non-union work environment.

Asset Management

Ensure that all equipment in the department is maintained in good working order through proper use and preventive maintenance.

Accomplish productivity goals through efficient, effective use of staff.

Maintain housekeeping standards that promote employee health and safety while reducing damage to inventory.

Assist in developing plans to improve processes and reduce costs.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments.

Skills and Qualifications

Show ability to lead others in a fast-paced, high-quality work environment.

Articulate with good oral and written communication skills.

Proficiently use personal computer and Microsoft applications.

Experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Post secondary education is preferred.
