Job Description

Supervises all activity performed within the Area Port location ensuring that vessels are properly monitored and closed. As a supervisor, the incumbent in this position oversees the day-to-day operations of a group of employees. This includes training and developing staff, assigning work, as well as interpreting and ensuring the consistent application of organizational policies. He / she possesses and applies knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization. The Supervisor may initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions, including disciplinary action and the scheduling / approving of overtime.

• Monitors port operations to ensure work is flowing in accordance with defined processes
• Analyzes port operations to identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost control
• Maintain load/discharge statistics, recoverable, non-recoverable and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for vessel
closure
• Analyzes shipment problems and identifies corrective actions
• Provides training for staff on new systems, regulations and requirements
• Makes certain that all departmental and functional training requirements are fulfilled
• Review and approve invoices created by various terminal venders
• Ensures consistent application of Hapag-Lloyd policies to all personnel actions
