Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the calibration program, ensuring appropriate establishment of calibration requirements, timely execution of calibration schedules, and robust investigation into calibration issues.
  • Review and implement on-going improvements to the efficiency of the calibration process, including minimizing calibration frequencies where possible based upon increasing levels of confidence and reliability.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports, including development and evaluation of team goals driving continuous improvement and overall effectiveness of the calibration program.
  • Maintain master calibration schedule cycles within the calibration database
  • Coordinate internal and external calibration work ensuring calibrations are performed to schedule, Maintain calibration contracts/agreements with external vendors.
  • Coordinate and perform calibration activities to support validation activities of new/modified products/processes and relocation activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to associates performing internal calibrationsPartner with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to select state of the art measuring and test equipment.
  • Support internal measurement processes through creation of measurement programs, fixturing for new or revised parts and qualification of measurement methods.
  • Coordinate internal metrology training for new operators and inspectors.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or improve inspection methods.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork with other departments to ensure the effective execution of the quality system
  • Report on metrics to quality leadership

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 2 years or more of supervision preferred
  • 5 years Manufacturing Quality/Engineering related experience required
  • Familiarity with various inspection equipment, including CMM and non-contact measurement methods.
  • Proficiency in Gage R&R and test method validation preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading / interpreting engineering drawings and the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y 14.5.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Knowledge of testing equipment and applicable national standards relating to testing (i.e. ASTM standards, NIST, etc.). Familiarity in operating test and inspection equipment used in Quality Control. Familiarity with applicable federal, military, FDA, ISO and EN specifications.
