If you are a Supply Chainprofessional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Copeland Electronics & Controls location in Kennesaw, Georgia, you will provide hands-on purchasing leadership while carrying direct buying responsibilities in a high-mix, high-variability electronics manufacturing environment. If you are someone who thrives on driving team accountability, resolving material shortages with urgency, and keeping production running without interruption, this role is a great fit for you. You will lead a team of four to five buyers and report to the Materials Manager, working closely with a Production Planner and Inventory Supervisor as key functional partners. This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to senior leadership and real opportunity to make an impact in a growing business.

As a Buyer Supervisor, You Will:

  • Own direct purchasing responsibilities including purchase order placement, supplier follow-up, expedite management, order confirmations, and delivery tracking in alignment with MRP signals and production needs

  • Provide daily tactical leadership to a team of four to five buyers by assigning and balancing workload, setting clear priorities, and coaching on supplier communication, Oracle ERP accuracy, and shortage management

  • Lead daily and weekly review of critical shortages, late purchase orders, supplier recovery plans, and production-impacting material risks, ensuring proactive resolution before lines are impacted

  • Develop and fine-tune SOPs, partner with the Inventory Supervisor on dynamic safety stock levels, and collaborate with the Production Planner to monitor forecasting anomalies and finished goods supermarket consumption

  • Serve as the key escalation and communication conduit across Purchasing, Production Planning, Operations, Inventory Control, Engineering, Quality, and Finance

  • Act as a functional backup to the Production Planning role as needed, supporting schedule continuity, material readiness reviews, and cross-functional communication during coverage gaps

Schedule:

This role will begin fully onsite for approximately 6–12 months while you ramp up and establish team rhythms, with the potential to transition to a hybrid arrangement based on performance and business needs. Minimal travel is required.

Onsite Work Arrangement:This role is based fully onsite and is not currently eligible for hybrid or remote work, with the potential for flexibility to be discussed after the initial onboarding period.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials, supply chain, or production control in a manufacturing environment

  • Direct material purchasing experience with demonstrated ability to manage supplier follow-up, shortages, expedites, and delivery recovery

  • Oracle ERP experience is required(Oracle Fusion/Cloud or Oracle Cloud Planning strongly preferred); 1–3 years minimum — no comparable substitution will be considered

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading others, with the ability to develop team capability and reinforce accountability

  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, synthesize multiple inputs, and drive execution in a fast-paced, high-variability environment

  • Strong communication skills with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional leaders

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this position

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Prior supervisory or team lead title in purchasing, materials, planning, or supply chain (e.g., Buyer Supervisor, Sourcing Supervisor, Senior Buyer with leadership scope)

  • Background in electronics manufacturing or high-mix/configured product environments

  • Familiarity with production planning, master scheduling, SIOP/S&OE, SQDC, or shortage meeting processes

  • Experience developing SOPs, managing safety stock strategies, or working with finished goods supermarket models

  • Experience with supplier scorecards, purchasing dashboards, or KPI reporting tools

  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, Lean, or Six Sigma certification is a plus
