Job Description

Position Purpose

The Supervisor Blount Generating Station is a first-line people leader responsible for the safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of generating station assets. This role supervises employees engaged in plant operations and maintenance activities, ensures adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, supports operational performance objectives, and develops employee capabilities while maintaining alignment with departmental and organizational goals. The role balances day-to-day operational execution with workforce leadership, continuous improvement, and resource coordination.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily generating station operations and maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety programs, environmental requirements, operating procedures, work practices, and regulatory obligations.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, and monitor work activities to meet operational, maintenance, and reliability objectives.
  • Provide coaching, direction, feedback, and performance management to employees while fostering a positive and accountable work environment.
  • Support employee development through training, mentoring, succession planning, and ongoing skill development activities.
  • Coordinate plant activities with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to support operational needs and project execution.
  • Monitor plant performance, equipment condition, and operational metrics; identify issues and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Lead incident reviews, operational investigations, and problem-solving efforts to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Manage departmental resources, schedules, and budgets to support business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, operational effectiveness, productivity, and service reliability.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, record retention, and communication related to plant operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support emergency response activities and provide leadership during plant outages, operational events, and abnormal system conditions.

Education

  • Associate degree in Power Plant Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or a related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in power generation operations, maintenance, utility operations, industrial operations, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading work teams, coordinating crews, or providing direct supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • Experience with safety programs, regulatory compliance, operational procedures, and continuous improvement practices preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized environment preferred.

Work Location

  • This role is 100% onsite at our Blount Generating Station located in downtown Madison, WI.

Pre-employment will require satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen.
