Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open ‑cut coal mining operation located in the western coalfields of New South Wales, approximately 40–50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, near the village of Wollar. Wilpinjong produces high ‑quality thermal coal for both domestic and export energy markets, and is one of Peabody’s most productive and lowest ‑cost operations.

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Drill and Blast Supervisor to lead and oversee drilling and blasting activities, ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective outcomes across site operations.
Your key responsibilities:
- Manage drill and blast activities to meet safety, environmental and production requirements
- Lead and supervise crews and contractors, ensuring alignment with site standards and KPI’s
- Coordinate and deliver pre-start meetings, shift handovers and critical operational communications
- Monitor blasting performance, analyse outcomes and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including explosives legislation and site procedures
- Oversee drill pattern quality, stemming activities and blast execution standards
Conduct inspections, audits and field supervision to maintain safe and efficient work practices
- Manage consumables and costs, driving efficiency and minimising waste
Coach and mentor team members to build capability and improve performance outcomes
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in drill and blast within an open-cut coal mining environment
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to coach, mentor and drive team performance
- Sound understanding of NSW explosives legislation, safety systems and statutory compliance
- Proven ability to manage contractors, crews and competing operational priorities
- Experience with blast design, overburden and pre-strip blasting techniques highly regarded
- Current NSW Shotfirer Licence and relevant G competencies (G1, G2, G8, G9) preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across operational teams
- Solid planning and organisational skills with a focus on continuous improvement
