UGL’s Industrial & Resources division are currently seeking a supervisor with a mechanical background to join our Kangaroo Valley site for an upcoming outage.

The station comprises two generating / pumping units at Kangaroo Valley, along with two generating units at Bendeela.
The role will be responsible for supervising a major overhaul of a unit at a Hydro Power Station, safely delivering planned maintenance within the scheduled timeframe, coordinating crews, contractors, and resources to ensure all work is completed efficiently, in line with schedule, scope, and safety requirements.
Lead and coordinate all overhaul activities on turbines and generators, and associated systems to ensure safe and efficient execution
Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, isolations and permit systems
Supervise crews and contractors, ensure work is completed to scope, quality standards, and schedule
Plan, prioritise, and sequence tasks to meet shutdown milestones
Monitor progress and provide regular updates to shutdown management and stakeholders
Coordinate resources, tools, and materials to avoid delays in disruption
Maintain accurate documentation
Daily Timesheet keeping
Conduct toolbox talks
Work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Comply with safety standards and local regulations
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, materials and processes
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in supervising mechanical projects, preferably Hydro Generator Turbine-related field
Demonstrated experience in managing teams and resources successfully
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
Proficient in Microsoft 365 suites
Solid interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with teams and stakeholders
Qualifications Required
Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Fitting and Machining)
Additional certificates in Front Line Management are highly regarded
